School History

Balestier Hill Primary School was established in January 2002 following the merger of Moulmein Primary School and Swiss Cottage Primary School. It was officially open on 20 November 2004 by Mr Khaw Boon Wan, Minister of Health.

Dr Irene Ho was appointed as the first Principal while Miss Tan Chay Eng, the current Principal, took over the helm in January 2012.

Our Origin

moulmein crest.jpgMoulmein Primary School was at 51 Jalan Rajah in Toa Payoh.  It was formed in 1983 when Griffiths School merged with Balestier Girls' School. It was declared open by Mr. Lawrence Sia, People's Action Party Member of Parliament for Moulmein in July 1984

Swiss Cottage Primary School at Dunearn Road was one of the first integrated schools opened under the Integrated Schools Programme.  It It comprised the English and Malay streams.  It was also called "Sekolah Rendah Swiss Cottage".
